What we do
Staff Training |
|
We develop and deliver tailored training breastfeeding programmes for organisations. We have delivered multidisciplinary training towards the Baby Friendly Initiative in East Kent for around 1000 members of staff. We have provided training for over 90% of all the Childrens Centre staff in East Kent to introduce them to the Baby Friendly Initiative. We have developed a range of tailored online breastfeeding programmes to support Continuous Professional Development in East Kent. Our volunteer training programmes for breastfeeding peer support have been delivered across East Kent to over 100 volunteers. We developed the programme in conjunction with Ashford Sure Start and received accreditation from Greenwich University. We can deliver the programme to groups of up to 12 volunteer mothers. |
Programme and Project Management |
|
Prior to development of any programmes in East Kent we were commissioned to undertake a mapping survey of current breastfeeding services and asked for user input to future service requirements. Our approach was named by the National Obesity Forum as an example of National Good Practice. We undertook a similar project for the Government Offices of the South East. We can develop tailored mapping surveys to inform service development. The East Kent breastfeeding programme was developed from the mapping report looking specifically at the areas of highest deprivation. |
Clinical Consultancy |
|
We run free clinics in both acute and community settings for breastfeeding mothers using qualified Lactation Consultants.

Our working model has been credited by Charles Bicker, Executive Chair of Kent & Medway Social Enterprise Network CIC, in the Innovation for Health project, and the newly formed national consortium, The Innovation Consortium CIC as “an exemplary example of locality based funding, building from community demand upwards and co-production with community and social enterprise; it is therefore an excellent example of how the Big Society should work.”
