WHO ARE WE?
Lyn Scazafabo, RGN, IBCLC
Lyn is a registered nurse and mother of five. She has been a Lactation Consultant for 11 years and has practiced in the field of Women and Children’s Health for over 30 years. Her experience includes both hospital and community settings in the UK and America where she set up the Breastfeeding Resource Centre at the University of Medicine and Dentistry, NJ, Camden and was on the executive board of Healthy Mothers Healthy Babies, Camden County,NJ. She was one of the original Nurse Home Visitors with the Elmira Project (being rolled out in the UK as the Family Nurse Partnership). Lyn has been infant feeding coordinator for East Kent Hospitals and Maidstone and Tonbridge Hospitals Trust.
Lyn’s primary areas of work are training, clinical services, and clinical supervision of the volunteer programmes.
Philippa Parrett, BSc(hons),NCT counsellor
Phil has extensive experience in both the voluntary and health sectors. She is a mother of four and an NCT breastfeeding counsellor. She qualified as a Lactation Consultant in 2002.
Before working in the world of breastfeeding Phil studied Structural Engineering at Bath University. She became a Chartered Structural Engineer and worked in Project Management in the construction industry in London and the South East. At that time she qualified as a volunteer breastfeeding counsellor with the National Childbirth Trust.
As a breastfeeding counsellor she was part of the DOH-funded CATCH Biological Nurturing project within East Kent Hospitals Trust. She is an accredited peer support trainer with the NCT as well as developing PSB’s peer support programme with Ashford Sure Start and Greenwich University. She has worked within the acute services at East Kent Hospitals, providing both clinical and training services. In 2006 East Kent Hospitals awarded her the second place individual achievement award for her work with breastfeeding.
She has been involved with the Breastfeeding Task Force and Maternity Services Liaison committee in East Kent for a number of years.
Phil’s main areas of work are training and development of elearning; peer support training; data evaluation; programme and project management; resource production.
